Valedictorian - Trevor Wyatt
Calvary Day School’s Valedictorian for the Class of 2020 is James Trevor Wyatt. Trevor is the son of David and Lisa Wyatt. He has two older sisters, both graduates of CDS; Samantha, Class of 2014 and Kayla, 2017.
Trevor has been a student at Calvary for 13 years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and International Thespian Society. During his years at CDS, Trevor has participated in Swimming, Theatre, Ethics Club, Service Club and Student Council.
Trevor’s love for Theatre, where he excels vocally and in acting skills, has given him the opportunity to perform in 11 CDS shows, both in leading and supporting roles. One year, after a student got sick three days before the show, Trevor stepped in to learn the role and perform it with excellence. He is best known for his portrayal of Davey in “Newsies,” last spring.
Though very talented on stage, Trevor is especially gifted in the pool. He is captain of the Varsity Swim Team and has been recognized as a four-time All-Conference Swimmer, two-time Conference Swimmer of the Year, and All-State Swimmer. This year, Trevor placed second in the Boys 200 Free at the State Meet. During his tenure as a CDS swimmer, Trevor has broken 24 school records. He currently holds school records in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free, 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Trevor is a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and his life Bible verse is John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Trevor will attend Gardner-Webb University this fall where he plans to major in Math Education and minor in Youth Discipleship Studies. He will also be competing on the GWU Men’s Swim Team. Perhaps Trevor can break school records at the collegiate level, as a Runnin’ Bulldog!
Congratulations Trevor Wyatt! We celebrate you and all of your accomplishments at CDS.
Salutatorian - Katie Mills
Katie Marie Mills is the Salutatorian for Calvary Day School’s Class of 2020. She is the daughter of Joe and Debbie Mills, both teachers in the Upper School. Katie has an older sister, Erin, and a younger sister, Kelly, who is a 10th grader at CDS.
Katie has been a student at Calvary for the past three years. Her family moved here from West
Virginia when her father accepted a teaching position and Katie entered the 10th grade.
As a student, Katie has been active in ELC, Student Council, Mock Trial, Moot Court and Youth and Government. She attended Governor’s School last summer and is the senior recipient of the CDS Statesmanship Award, which recognizes one who honorably represents Christ, family, school and nation, as well as uses his/her leadership skills to promote others, not themselves. She was crowned the 2019 Homecoming Queen, and has served as a CDS Ambassador for the past two years.
Katie is a member of National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and International Thespian Society.
Katie has a love for Theatre where she has performed in six shows and served as assistant director for one. She has played both leading and supporting roles, has interned for Mrs. Sigler, and has mentored middle school actors.
Katie is a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attends West Campus. One of her life Bible verses is John 17:3, “This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent – Jesus Christ.” Katie states that seeing lives changed by the goodness of God during the musical, Newsies, and at this year’s retreat at Windy Gap, are two of her favorite memories during her short time at Calvary.
Katie plans to attend Campbell University in the fall and will study Healthcare Management.
Congratulations Katie Mills! We are proud of you and all that you have accomplished as a CDS student.
