at El Paso. I received a Master of Arts in Sports Management

Where is your hometown?
Born and raised on Kodiak Island in Alaska. Graduated from
Kodiak High School and return to Kodiak regularly to visit family,
speak at community and church events and enjoy AK hiking,
fishing and hunting. For over 15 years I was a deckhand on commercial fishing vessels in the Bristol Bay just east of the
Bering Sea. I am a North Carolinian from the mountains
to the shore but an Alaskan to the core.
What are your hobbies/passions outside of work?
When not teaching and doing talks and workshops,
I enjoy reading, exercising, doing yard work and
spending time with my two grandchildren. I love to hunt,
fish and write inspirational stories and lessons. Though my competitive sports playing days are getting close to ending, I still enjoy running, playing basketball and coaching the sport which I advanced the furthest, baseball.
