A passionate leader and dedicated mentor, Coach Sutherland brings over 8 years of coaching experience to the team.
Before entering coaching, Sutherland was an infielder at UNC-Chapel Hill and earned a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not only the technical skills necessary for success on the field but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. His commitment to developing well-rounded athletes has made him a respected leader both on and off the field. Coach Sutherland began his coaching career as an Assistant coach for Walters State Community College. During his time there, he worked with catchers and infielders. In addition to his college coaching experience, Coach Sutherland has been involved in high school and travel baseball throughout the Southeast. Coach Sutherland’s approach to coaching is rooted in his Christian faith, focusing on building strong relationships with his players and encouraging them to excel both on the field and in their walk with Christ. One of his favorite bible verses is 1 Peter 3:15: “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”
