Gary was born and raised in the state of Maine. He started playing golf at the age of 12 and developed a strong passion for the game. At the age of 17, he secured a job at a golf course working for a golf professional where he obtained more training and insight into the game. He later attended a golf training camp that helped further cemented his focus and desire for the sport.
Upon graduation in 1975 from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. Gary went into the supermarket business where he held a variety of management positions.
In 1999 he moved from Maine to North Carolina and after 23 years Gary retired from Lowes Foods, LLC where he was Vice President of Business Support. During his work history, he was fortunate to play in over 15 PGA Tour Pro-Am events playing alongside some of the top professionals “inside the ropes” gaining valuable knowledge about game strategy and golf technique. He is an active member of three Interclub Golf Teams that compete with other golf course teams and has participated in competitive golf matches through the North Carolina Golf
Association.
Gary has been married to his wife Cindy for 49 years and they are members of Calvary Baptist Church. They have two children, Kevin and Jessica and 2 grandchildren Charlotte and LucyKate.
