Varsity Girls Head Coach - Wendy Cassada
Wendy Cassada has been coaching Cross Country at Calvary Day School for 7 of the past 8 years. This is her first season as Track coach. Wendy helped start the middle school cross country program in 2014 which has seen tremendous growth in both participants and results, as the team has won the Conference Championships the past 2 years. She has a heart for leading young athletes in a biblical truth and passion for making sure the lessons of Jesus are present in practices and meets at all times.
As a runner, Wendy has used her personal training and experience of 30+ years of running to shape the results she gets from her teams. She has also taken multiple online classes through NASM (National Academy of Science Medicine). Wendy has run 14 marathons, 3 ultra marathons, and multiple half marathons, including two Boston Marathon medals, as well as qualifying for the New York Marathon.
Varsity Head Coach- Jacob Creson
Coach Creson served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Gardner Webb University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and in public schools for 15 years. He has also worked as a Physical Education teacher at both elementary and middle school levels coaching several sports.
Jacob holds a B.A degree in Health and Exercise Science and M.A degree in Sport Science and Pedagogy. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA and a Certified Sport Performance Coach by USAW. Jacob is thankful and excited to be serving the Calvary community this upcoming school year and many more to come.
Varsity Head Coach- Tim Montgomery
Coach Tim Montgomery has over 25 years of experience of coaching at the middle school and high school levels. His coaching experience includes basketball, cross-country and soccer. He established the high school athletic program at Noble Academy in Greensboro serving as athletic director as well as head basketball coach and head cross-country coach for several
years.
For 23 years he has served as the commissioner of the Independent School League in Guilford County. The ISL is a coed athletic league where students from six area independent schools participate in cross-country, soccer, flag football, volleyball, and basketball.In his high school years Tim had an outstanding athletic career at East Forsyth High School excelling in cross-country, basketball, and track, being voted all City-County and all Conference as well as East Forsyth’s Athlete of the Year in his senior year. He followed that with a brief
track career at Appalachian State before an injury ended his final season.
Tim and his wife Cindy have 3 grown children and are expecting their ninth grandchild the end
of May 2023. Their daughter Ashley and her husband Taylor along with 5 of their children serve
as missionaries at the Rift Valley Academy in Kenya. His oldest grandson Max is currently a
freshman at Liberty University. His sons Adam and Alex are both married and live in Shelby and
Salisbury respectively with their families. Tim and Cindy are active members of Triad Baptist
Church in Kernersville and both serve on the mission committee which Tim has chaired for
many years.
Tim is very excited to return to coaching after many years in school administration and is
grateful for the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience at a fine institution like
Calvary Day School.
