Coaches' Bio
Varsity Head Coach- Scott Humphrey
Graduated from RJ Reynolds in 1985
Played Baseball, Basketball and Football in high school.
Awarded Baseball scholarship to Guilford College.
Played 4 years and awarded the Senior Athletic Award.
Broke ankle at beginning of senior season and moved to Assistant Coach position on Staff.
Married to Legh Parker Humphrey
2 sons, Kyle (30) and Joshua (25)
Retired from WS/FC school system after 31 years. Head Baseball Coach at Parkland High School.

Varsity Assistant Coach - Eric Vaughan
Erik is the proud father of Calvary graduates Harrison, Hunter, and Olivia-Beth Vaughan and the husband of 8th grade English Teacher Holly Vaughan. His coaching journey started at Calvary in 2011 as the Middle School Head Baseball Coach. After a brief retirement from coaching, Erik re-joined the varsity staff at Calvary in 2023 when his son, Harrison Vaughan, was named the Varsity Baseball Head Coach.
Varsity Assistant Coach- Andy Sullivan
Andy graduated from West Forsyth High School in 2004, where he met his wife, Michelle Sullivan. Together, they have a daughter, Alexis, a freshman at Reagan High School and a dedicated track athlete.
Andy and Michelle are proud alumni of Appalachian State University and were both baptized at Calvary in 2015. With a deep passion for baseball, Andy has coached at various levels, from recreational T-Ball to competitive travel teams and high school programs. His coaching experience includes leading multiple all-star teams at Southwest Forsyth Little League and serving as head coach for Calvary’s Middle School baseball team in 2016. Additionally, he coached Calvary’s Varsity Baseball team in their Fall League in 2015 and 2016, mentoring players such as Coach Vaughan’s sons, Hunter and Harrison Vaughan.
Beyond coaching, Andy enjoys traveling with his family, spending time with his dogs, and cheering on UNC Basketball and his beloved Atlanta Braves.
MS Head Coach- Eli Sutherland
Coach Sutherland is entering his first year at Calvary Day School. A passionate leader and dedicated mentor, Coach Sutherland brings over 7 years of coaching experience to the team.
Before entering coaching, Sutherland was an Infielder for UNC Chapel Hill and finished with a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not only the technical skills necessary for success on the field but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. His commitment to developing well-rounded athletes has made him a respected leader both on and off the field.Coach Sutherland began his coaching career as an Assistant coach for Walters State Community College. During his time there, he worked with catchers and infielders. In addition to his college coaching experience, coach Sutherland has been involved with high school and travel baseball all around the southeast.Coach Sutherland’s approach to coaching is rooted in his Christian faith, focusing on building strong relationships with his players and encouraging them to excel both on the field and in their walk with Christ. One of his favorite bible verses is 1 Peter 3:15 “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”
