Chorus

This course is intended to give students the opportunity to be lifelong musicians, whether amateur or professional, worshiping God with one of the gifts that He has given them. This course focuses on performing a variety of choral music with musical expression, building on previous musical knowledge. This is a semester-long course.

This performance-based ensemble builds on comprehensive music education students have previously received. Students elect to take this class as a means to further their vocal development. Students perform various styles of music with heavy emphasis on sight-reading, close harmonies and vocal blend. As a skilled vocal group, they perform several times throughout the school year in Chapel, community events, church services, ball games, and competition TBA. The class will attend a musical production or concert. Auditions for the group are held in the spring with the Choral Director.

In addition to CDS’ existing classes for vocalists (M.S. chorus, H.S. Chorus, and H.S. Praise Band), we’re adding a new, kicked-up opportunity for H.S. singers - CDS Mass Choir! - exploring multiple genres, and geared toward exciting performances, and eventually tours! This will take place 2nd sem. for male and female voices grades 9 - 12 -It’s going to be AMAZING! - pass the word!
