Teaching Students to Attain Their Full Potential in God

Christian education from the Word of God, subject to God’s sovereign and providential purpose, brings students to their full stature in Christ. Genesis 1:1; 26 -28; Isaiah 54:13-17; Revelation 4:11.

Teaching Students Self-Government Under God

Christian education internalizes and applies Biblical principles for the government of home, school, and nation thereby framing the proper response of students to God. Romans 3:23; John 3:16; John 16:13.

Teaching Students to Commit Themselves Fully to God

Christian education challenges students spiritually, morally, socially, physically, and academically to consider how they govern themselves, their habits of work and scholarship, their insight and knowledge of God’s providence, and their character development in light of each student’s commitment of faith in Christ. Mark 12:30, 33.

Teaching Students in Partnership with Parents, Faculty, and The Local Church

Christian education is a cooperative effort between parents, faculty, and the local church which develops the spiritual, environmental and intellectual culture necessary to sound learning. Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Galatians 6:6; James 3:1

Teaching Students to Think, Learn, and Live as Effective Christian People

Christian education enlightens the understanding, corrects the temperament, forms the habits and manners, and prepares students for useful service. From a Christian worldview of presuppositions consistent with absolute Biblical truth, students learn to discern right action and thinking from which they then exercise a proper role in their families, the Body of Christ, and as citizens of the United States of America. Romans 12:1-2; 1 Timothy 4:15.

Statement of Faith

Calvary Day School states as its Statement of Faith that it adheres to the doctrinal position of Calvary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, Inc., as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000). This document may be viewed HERE.
Calvary Day School affirms the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Statement of Faith as a member school of ACSI.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4: 15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9), His Resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), His Ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19), His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16–19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8–9; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:5).
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28–29).
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12–13, Galatians 3:26–28).
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13–14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
We believe that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18–25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God’s command is that there be no sexual intimacy outside of or apart from marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex. These two distinct yet complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27).

Spiritual

Students will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Students will have a desire to study the Bible and grow spiritually.
Students will understand and articulate a biblical worldview and learn to operate from that perspective in the world.
Students can discern between absolute truth and relative truth.
Students can communicate how to make Godly decisions based on biblical principles.
Students can share the truth of the Gospel with others and become disciplemakers.

Academic

Students will demonstrate the academic competence that is required for the next level of academic pursuit.
Students will be creative and critical thinkers who can apply learning to solve real-world problems.
Students will utilize technology responsibly and effectively and appropriately access and use a variety of information resources.
Students will show appreciation for the fine arts.
Students will communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
Students will know the Bible in concept and through memorization.

Social

Students will take responsibility for personal actions.
Students will appreciate and respect themselves and others as uniquely created in the image of God.
Students will serve others including the poor and needy, and understand the biblical mandate to serve one another.
Students will work with honesty and integrity.
Students will practice Christian morality in interpersonal relationships.
Students will reach beyond their peer groups to include others, including those of different cultures.

Leadership

Students will develop leadership skills.
Students will participate in service experiences.
Students will understand and use their God-given gifts and talents as leaders.
Students will be servant leaders, and will be prepared for lifelong service to God and others.
