This year at the 34th Annual Youth and Government (YAG) Conference, 52 delegates from CDS recently joined over 1,100 students from across the state in Raleigh, NC, to discuss and consider the issues important to their generation today. Our students participated in multiple program areas, including Court of Appeals, Mock Trial, Lobbyist, Budget Analyst, Media, and Legislature. Three bills written by CDS students made it through the entire legislative process to the Governor's Cabinet.  Two of our delegates participated on the state level, with Caroline Pinyan serving as the 2026 Broadcast Editor and Addison Shute serving as the Senior Legislative Assistant. Winston Mitchell was recognized as the Best Witness during the Mock Trial competition, with seven more CDS delegates participating in the Judicial Branch. Ryland Malek and Carlyn Hinchliffe also did a wonderful job as the CDS Student Delegation Leader and President this year.
