Max Floyd - CDS Athletic Director

We are excited to announce that Max Floyd has been named the new Athletic Director of Calvary Day School.

Mr. Floyd assumes this role with an extensive background in athletics as a former student-athlete, coach, educator, and administrator. His passion for developing young people through sports, combined with decades of leadership experience, makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead the Cougar athletic program.

After completing his collegiate playing career, Mr. Floyd returned to school to earn a master's degree in Sports Management. Throughout his career, he has coached, mentored, and led athletic programs for students ranging from six years old through the collegiate level.

Before coming to North Carolina, Mr. Floyd served at The Ohio State University Department of Athletics, where he worked in football and basketball game-day operations and supported students through the Club Sports and Intramural Sports programs within the Department of Recreational Sports.

Mr. Floyd later joined Wake Forest University, where he developed the university's recreational sports program and served as Director of Campus Recreation before joining Calvary Day School as a faculty member and, most recently, Dean of Students.

During his tenure at Wake Forest, Mr. Floyd worked with hundreds of students and student-athletes, leading the development of numerous sports and fitness programs. He also oversaw the planning and acquisition of both indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, collaborating from concept to completion with architects, construction teams, and campus stakeholders to create outstanding recreational venues.

Mr. Floyd served as an NCAA Division I Baseball Regional Site Manager, coordinating eight NCAA Regionals as part of the College World Series. In that role, he was responsible for site evaluations, umpire evaluations, coordinating with ESPN, and making critical game-day operational decisions.

As a student-athlete, Mr. Floyd was a four-sport standout in high school before playing baseball at Arizona State University and the University of Texas at El Paso. The Philadelphia Phillies selected him in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Mr. Floyd has long been an avid supporter of Cougar athletics, and his children were All-State athletes while attending CDS. We are excited to see Mr. Floyd step into this new position and look forward to the vision, leadership, and commitment he will bring as he leads the Cougar athletic program.

Mr. Floyd and his wife Debbie love Calvary Day School, its students, its families, and the faculty and staff who make it the place that it is today.
