CDS Announces New Cougar Baseball Coaches

Calvary Day School is pleased to announce the new Cougar varsity men’s baseball coaches: Head Coach Ron Laxton and Assistant Coach Travis Tuttle.

Ron Laxton has been the head strength and conditioning coach at CDS for the past three years and is excited to bring his experience and passion for baseball to the school. Coach Laxton is a seasoned baseball coach with more than 15 years of head coaching experience at the high school level. In addition, Laxton has coached both big league and little league baseball, and led one team to the Little League World Series. He is a highly sought-after baseball trainer and has served as a scout for the Kansas City Royals.

Originally from Winston Salem, Travis Tuttle attended Reagan High School before continuing his playing career at Appalachian State. Coach Tuttle played one year at App. State before transferring to Surry Community College, where he won Pitcher of the Year and national Pitcher of the Week honors, before finishing his playing days at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Coach Tuttle earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UNCG, and will begin a master’s degree program in human performance, with a strength and conditioning specialization from Liberty University in the fall. Since graduating UNCG, he has coached at the youth level and served as the pitching coach at Atkins High School for the 2019 season.
