Catherine Head to Lead CDS Volleyball Program


Calvary Day School’s Head of School Richard Hardee announces the Cougars new Head Volleyball Coach Catherine Head.

Head comes to the CDS after having served the past year as head coach at Salem College. In addition, she served as the assistant coach for Brevard College and Greensboro College volleyball teams.

“I am very excited to have Head join our coaching staff,” said Hardee. “We look forward to her impact on our women’s athletic program here at CDS.”

In addition to leading the volleyball team, Head will teach some classes and serve as an assistant athletic director working in conjunction with the new athletic director once he or she is hired. 

Head said she is very excited to join the CDS family!
“The first time I was on campus it felt like home,” she said. “I am so thankful for Mr. Hardee, Coach Largent and Coach Landis for this opportunity.” 

A native of Kernersville, Head was a four-year varsity scholarship player for Elon University. During this time, she was selected to the Highlanders Invitational All-Tournament Team. In addition, Head was named the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference Volleyball Player of the Year in 2011. Head also has years of experience coaching for the Piedmont Volleyball Club, serving as the head coach and assistant coach for many age groups from 14U to 18U. She holds a master’s degree in recreation and sports administration from the University of Western Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in exercise sports science from the Elon University.

Head is a member of Calvary Baptist Church Central campus. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Glenda Head and is engaged to Zach McGee.
